The Streetery… it’s not Exactly Nice, but it is Nice.

Distanced tables await diners on Norfolk Ave in Bethesda.

A few blocks of the Woodmont Triangle and Bethesda Row areas are closed to provide restaurant seating. The Bethesda Urban Partnership is behind the “Streetery” concept to allow some hopefully safer pandemic seating options for diners in greater Bethesdonia.

The idea is to get takeout and go eat it at one of the more spread-out street tables. Tables will be cleaned after each use.

The ad hoc pedestrian zone is nice, but it lacks the ambiance of the Pedestrian Zone in Nice, France, and its established counterparts.

The ad hoc pedestrian zone is a laudable effort and it hopefully provides a safe, fun option for diners in Bethesda (again, hopefully on both counts). A pedestrian zone in Bethesda where traffic is limited to provide permanent outdoor seating would be appealing, but we shall see how the current effort works out…

Black Lives Matter Police Reform Rally In Bethesda

June 2, 2020 demonstration at the Connie Morella public library in Bethesda.

There was a well attended rally at the Connie Morella Public Library on Arlington Road in Bethesda on June 2, 2020. The peaceful protest called for unity, police reform, and prayers for those who have been killed by police.

A crowd filled the library parking lot and some of the surrounding streets.

Police blocked-off streets around the rally site and directed traffic.

Most of the demonstrators were wearing masks and trying to maintain reasonable spacing amidst the crowd.

A Bit of Common Sense in Bethesda

People spaced a few yards apart, going down the block outside the farmers' market in Bethesda, MD.
Social distancing at the farmers’ market in Bethesda.

It can seem like common sense is not so common during the Pandemic. Thankfully, in Bethesda people are keeping their distance while waiting to enter the farmers’ market. We’re not idiots here.
